Who can access Claude Duet?
Anthropic's October 21 announcement introduces Claude Duet as a proactive agent research preview, initially for US Pro and Max subscribers through a waitlist. It describes standalone iOS and Android apps and web access on claude.ai. During the preview, Duet shares the plan's usage limits. The product monitors connected apps, prepares briefs and handles delegated tasks; the announcement describes safeguards and checks before acting on the user's behalf.
Decide what a helpful interruption looks like
Our recommended first task is deliberately narrow: identify a small class of items that merit attention and explain why. Write down examples that should trigger a notification and examples that should remain quiet. Review missed items as well as unnecessary alerts. A proactive assistant that sends many technically correct messages can still make work harder if it interrupts at the wrong time or repeatedly asks you to revisit an already settled decision.
Connect one workflow before a whole business
Begin with a limited, reversible task using information you can safely expose to the service. Confirm the connected account and what it permits the assistant to read or change. Keep a human review step for messages and commitments. Test whether you can understand the proposed action before approving it. Do not assume that describing a desired outcome also specifies every recipient, attachment or account the assistant should use along the way.
Distinguish a draft from an action
For a scheduling or administrative exercise, keep separate records of the requested result, generated draft, approval decision and final external change. This makes failures easier to diagnose. A correct draft sent to an incorrect recipient is a different problem from a poor draft that stayed private. A status message saying work is complete should be checked against the actual destination. These are proposed evaluation controls, not a claim that we have penetration-tested the preview.
Account for background work and review effort
Treat the work happening between conversations as part of the resource budget. Review whether the assistant's briefs reduce the time needed to understand a situation and whether the underlying references are easy to inspect. Keep a short record of duplicated tasks, stale information and corrections. An assistant can be useful without taking over every step; a dependable draft and a clear handoff may be more valuable than an ambitious automation that needs frequent recovery.
Preview status changes the adoption decision
Do not build a time-critical process around assumed availability. Check the current invitation, regional access and plan conditions in the official product documentation before promising the feature to a team. Retain an ordinary way to finish the task when the assistant is unavailable. Assess the preview on a small, well-defined workflow first, then expand only if the results justify it. FyreLinkz has not independently measured Duet's reliability or security.
